Chapter 1
An Ocean of Dreams

By dovemarie

I sail through an ocean of dreams
As I meditate on poetic themes
Half asleep, half awake it seems
Floating around verses and rhyme schemes

Stars overhead twinkling
Light my way, keeping my ship from sinking
In the distance, I see looming rocks
Moonlight shines on sandy docks

Deep-blue waves soar
While thundering breakers roar
Pinkish-gray clouds hover in suspended animation
All part of divine creation

You and I are borne along by the powerful sea
There is an ocean of dreams between you and me

Author Notes I always feel like the sea, sometimes I'm calm, at other times I'm raging, and I feel buoyed up by my verses and rhymes, like a ship sailing on the ocean. Thanks to Dimitris Vetsikas from Pixabay

Chapter 2
April Rain

By dovemarie

April

Rain pouring down

Filling my eyes with tears

Overflowing my broken heart

With pain

Author Notes My heart has been filled with pain lately, and we've had a lot of rainy, cloudy days where I live.

Chapter 3
Thirsty Trees

By dovemarie

Thundering rains pour

Over trees

Drinking greedily

Author Notes I look up at trees during these rainy days and think of how they are being freshly watered and kept healthy by rainfall Thanks to Pixabay for artwork

Chapter 4
Month of May

By dovemarie

May

Is the month in which

Pure blossoms appear

In tranquillity and harmony

Author Notes May is one of my favorite months, I feel tranquillity and harmony with the soft spring rains and blossoming trees and flowers Thanks to Jana Dreger of Pixabay

Chapter 5
Butterfly

By dovemarie

He is my butterfly
Lots of times he's made me cry
We've known each other for years
Intimacy endears

I tell him of my love
He tells me he loves me too
He used to be like a bird that flew
And made me feel very blue

We're close friends now
We've had outdoor pleasure
These times I treasure

He is just like a monarch butterfly
He spreads his wings
Landing on a flower
My heart now sings
We're both within each other's power

Author Notes I am close to a man I've know for 45 years. He flitted around from woman to woman, he hurt me a lot, but now we're very close. Thanks to mageephoto from Pixabay

Chapter 6
LIfe is no Accident!

By dovemarie

Back in February of this year, I was involved in two accidents. One took place on my apartment steps. I was carrying grocery bags, and I lurched forward, hitting my right knee, then fell backward and hurt my back. A couple of weeks later, I was a passenger in an accident on the way to my day program and fell onto the floor of the van (wasn't wearing a seat belt). I received a free recliner from someone at my church. It's been a long road, trying to get rides, unable to walk far, but things are looking up now!

Author Notes I have had a lot of pain, but I prayed and received favors from friends, and I got a cortisone injection, which should help a lot. Thanks to PublicDomainPicturesfrom Pixabay
