"Seasons In Time "

Prologue
In Love With Spring

By fm wright

Gentle Spring,

how lovely

are the days

spent in you.

Your warm breeze,

a respite

from Winter's

icy chill.

Even Fall

can't compare

in beauty

next to you.

And Summer,

the heat can

excite just

for awhile.

Though too brief,

I relish

our days spent

together.

Chapter 1
No Stopping Spring

By fm wright

Old Man Winter had made a plan;
for it, he'd need the entire clan:
Ice and Snow, Frost and Freezing Wind.
Alone, or in groups, these he would send,
as he was determined he should stay,
keeping beautiful Spring at bay.

The North Wind swept across the land.
In chilling voice he made his demand.
But Spring would not harken to him,
making his chances nigh onto slim.
Unable to chill her to the bone.
Anyway, least not on his own.

So Frost agreed he would assist.
His cold allure she couldn't resist.
But his efforts too, proved for naught.
Therefore t'was Ice and Snow then they sought.
In quick succession their trap was layed,
all to make sure that Winter stayed.

Quickly they covered up the ground,
just to keep Spring from coming around.
From her warm touch their hopes did quell,
as she soon had them under her spell.
Old Man Winter was now defeated.
From his rule he felt self cheated.

Author Notes Just a weird little story that developed from the first line coming into my head.

Chapter 2
When Winter Says Goodbye

By fm wright

The nights grow shorter, the days longer

while the desire for outside stronger.

The wind, it loses some of its bite,

the landscape relinquishes its blight.

The leaves on the trees make their return,

as the grass, its stalks to green do turn.

The wind, warmer temps it does supply,

when winter finally says goodbye.

Chapter 3
Spring's Stolen my Heart

By fm wright

Winter was saying goodbye,

though I had not a tear to cry,

for the relationship had been cold,

so for on me it had no hold,

thus in its ending I had no regret,

for there was another I had met,

and it was her I had in mind,

one whose ways are a far gentler kind;

enticing me from the very start,

because it's Spring who's stolen my heart.

Chapter 4
Winter's Last Breath

By fm wright

Winter tries one last time
to send its icy breath.
But it's gone past its prime;
for Spring brings about its death.

Chapter 5
Winter's Kiss

By fm wright

As the north wind blows
and snow falls to ground
I feel winter's kiss

Author Notes My thoughts back upon winter as I wait for spring.

Chapter 6
Awaiting Spring

By fm wright

Lying dormant underneath the ground
seeds of Flora can there be found,
unaware of winter's blast.
Now, myself, in contrast
a witness to bear
the chilling air
as we both
await
spring.

Author Notes This poem compares how the seeds of plants and humans wait out the winter months.

Chapter 7
Spring's Arrival

By fm wright

soft, gentle breezes,

chromatic flowers in bloom,

birds sweetly singing,

butterflies a fluttering

allude to Spring's arrival.

Chapter 8
Joyous Springtime

By fm wright

In Spring

birds sing

their songs of great joy

which pour forth as falling rain

bids Winter adieu.

Author Notes Appreciation goes out to Cindy Sue Truman for use of this artwork called "Nature Rocks."

Chapter 9
A Farewell to Spring

By fm wright

The time has come that we should briefly part.
Still you'll remain as always in my heart.
Though I must bid you a not so fond adieu
I promise to remain forever true.

None of the other seasons can compare;
not summer with its warm dramatic flare,
or autumn with its bright colors all aglow,
or even winter with its fallen snow.

Though for now we must be separated,
the circumstances are not ill fated.
Passing days will us together again bring.
Until then a farewell to you oh spring.

Author Notes Spring is admittedly my favorite season.

Chapter 10
The Death of Spring

By fm wright

Situated in the interrogation room
the figures of the two detectives did loom.
"Winter, where were you when Spring took her final breath?"
"Are you trying to blame me for her death?

Spring was very much alive when I took my leave.
On this I implore that you my word believe.
What happened after that I can't possiblity say.
Perhaps Autumn knows what happened that day."

" Very well then, we'll bring her in for questioning,
for we must get to the bottom of this thing."
Though the detectives persued it with all their might,
they found Autumn's alibi was airtight.

There was only one more suspect to be brought in.
This turned out to be Spring's closest next of kin.
Under the detectives repeated questioning
Summer admitted to having killed Spring.

Author Notes Just a silly little idea that came to me.
