By Mrs Anna Howard
I was born a mighty tree
and grew up to be a bird
I have always wanted to be
able to sing and be heard
Looking back, oh well, silly me!
even a little kid knew that was absurd
I guess I'm still a handsome tree
lovingly carved into a giant bird
Author Notes | I've been writing serious stuff recently. Mr Howard challenged me to write something funny and light-hearted. This is my best attempt. |

You could have been mine,
but you never were
No place for love to grow
You could have been loved
by so many more
One love will have to do
Author Notes | A description of a woman’s love to a child she never got to hold due to miscarriage. |

One lit candle by the window
for a dear soul-
the one so loved
now dwells above
No tear left in the mother's eyes,
too numb to cry
Her painful heart
was ripped apart
No story of what could have been
all pages are seen-
just memories
permanently
Author Notes | This poem captures the raw grief of a mother mourning the loss of her child. It does not seek consolation but confronts the depth of anguish wound. |

Matthew 25:35-36
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me" |
