Saving dogs and cats from shelters

A Second Chance

by tempeste

Poor pooch, dumped and chained to a pole
was saved by a kind soul
who dropped him off at a local shelter,
where I found him months later.

From our first glance
knew I'd found the perfect match,
in seconds his wet snout
eagerly checked me out.

October Octo-Poem! writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
So, October is here, folks... but do you REALLY know what that means? Well, it COULD mean a whole host of things... but you must CHOOSE ONE. That's right! The link below will bring you to the humongous list of things for which October has been designated the official month for.

https://nationaldaycalendar.com/october-monthly-observations/

Your poetry assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to pick ONE of those items on that list and write an EIGHT LINE RHYMED POEM about it. There is no specified rhyme scheme, so it's totally up to you how the rhyming will work for your choice. However, when it's all said and done, it must be EXACTLY EIGHT (Octo) lines and it must RHYME. Remember to include your chosen month in your author notes!!

Please keep it CLEAN (I've seen some of those choices on there) and kick it up a notch with your presentation: make us WANT to celebrate October for your choice.... and, of course, want to vote for your Octo-Poem!!

Good luck and run over there and choose.....we're all waiting!! ;-) ;-)

October is also ....Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

A dog without a owner is such a sad sight .. if you are planning to get a pet .. do yourself and them a favour and choose a shelter dog ( or cat).
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
