Within the art of masquerade,
I free my muse to guide the pen
and trust what comes through sweet charade,
content to follow blind again.

I could be king that rules his land,
within the art of masquerade.
Perhaps the queen that took his hand
then broke their vows through love betrayed.

A boy who gives his life in trade
for freedom his dear country shares.
Within the art of masquerade
my muse becomes the cloak it wears.

A little child with growing dreams,
a hero, thief or loving aid.
My life is full through ink, it seems,
within the art of masquerade.

Write a Kyrielle writing prompt entry

Writing Prompt
A kyrielle is made of quatrains (four lines) that rhyme (any rhyme scheme can be used). Each stanza (quatrain) has a line that repeats from the previous stanza. That line is usually the last line in the stanza, but it does not have to be. Each line is made up of eight syllables. There is no limit to the number of stanzas. A Kyrielle is usually made up of three or more stanzas. For this prompt, a minimum of three stanzas is required.
