Winter's Last Hurrah

by Boogienights

Winter sonnet Contest Winner
Though Winter slows, it holds an icy grip.
A fierce storm is waiting in the wings.
Though the path to spring, seems a shorter trip,
we'll wait a longer time to hear birds sing.

The storm that rages keeps us all inside,
though through our windows, beauty sets the scene.
As Jack Frost paints his landscape, he feels pride,
the finished canvas peaceful and serene.

We know this lovely art show is short- lived,
that Mother Nature will come with her brush.
We revel in the wonder that this gives,
and suddenly for Spring, there is no rush.

With joy we still anticipate the Spring,
while we enjoy the magic winter brings.
