My Parents

by Raul1

I always used to depend on my parents,
most of the time they did
everything for me,
but they showed me how to do things
on my own,
it took me a while to do things myself.

I took step by step paths
to do things only for me,
I learned life lessons from them,
little by little I was becoming independent.

Things weren't easy for me,
but some things were difficult,
they showed me the way,
I have kept learning.
Several years later, I became independent,
I was no longer dependent on my parents.

I outgrew my dependency,
I started doing errands on my own,
I did chores at home by myself,
I wrote fiction stories, entered writing contests,
wrote poems, and cooked my food
all on my own.

I no longer depend on my parents,
I only look out for myself.
I have learned to move on in life.

Emotional Dependency writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem about being emotionally dependent on someone or something you love and then how you overcome the ties of that dependency.

My parents always did lots of things for me. But, they told me to do things on my own. I have learned to wash clothes by myself. Now I do things by myself and no longer need my parents to do things for me. I look out for myself. They taught me a great deal from life.
