Sometimes Broken

Sometimes I get so angry
at how broken I've become.
Both my knees are bone on bone,
no longer can I run.

People I see, my age, walk
so briskly down the street.
I wonder why I'm so impaired,
unsteady on my feet.

Sometimes I curse at God,
it's wrong, I know that in my heart.
But often pain will take ahold,
and cause my tears to start.

It's then I look to place the blame,
though many are worse off.
But spend an hour in my place,
you'll understand, not scoff.

sometimes I hate myself so much,
it makes me want to scream.
I'd like to wake up in the past,
and find this was a dream.

I'm selfish, for I know I'm loved,
needed by my family.
But sometimes I wish it would end,
I know that's wrong of me.

But those like me would understand
just how it is to live,
trapped in a broken body
that has nothing more to give.
