The King of Fast Food

by Boogienights

My family was poor when I was young,
eating meals out was never a thing.
Potatoes, pasta, bubble and squeak,
how I longed for a fast food fling.

Money was sparse and we had no car,
but my married older sister did.
And once she took us to Burger King,
quite a thrill it was for this kid.

Indeed a special occasion it was,
she said, "Order anything!"
So I got my very first Whopper with cheese,
much happiness would come from the King.

Maybe it was because I was so small,
but that hamburger looked huge to me.
It came with fries and soda as well,
I was as thrilled as could possibly be.

A huge beef patty that covered the bun,
ketchup, mayo, and a slice of cheese.
Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions too.
Have it your way, however you please!

Whoppers are awesome, I eat them still,
although they've reduced in their size.
Or maybe not, perhaps they're the same,
but looked huge to a six year old's eyes.

Healthy food? No. But Burger King Rocks!
It's okay, just don't over do.
Hungry for fast food? Get a Whopper today!
Hop on in to your car and drive through!
