The Garden Love Grew

by Boogienights

The woman tends her garden everyday,
her hands arthritic, showing signs of wear.
And tilling isn't easy like it was,
yet still, she plants each seedling there with care.

Sometimes it's hard to breathe out in the heat,
but cold sweet lemonade brings her relief.
She works until the day is nearly through,
the hours spent, to her seem all too brief.

Her vegetables and flowers make her smile,
and pride is what she feels when lush they grow.
And with others, her bounty she will share.
Her lovely garden gifts, she will bestow.

Above, the open sky fills up with clouds
and heavy in the air, the scent of rain.
The woman welcomes this because she knows,
the rain will help her garden to sustain.

Rows of potatoes, cabbage, peas, and corn.
Her sunflowers, zinnias, and marigolds.
Each summer you will always find her there,
watching the beauty as it all unfolds.

The garden planted, when they first were wed,
Now he is gone, he was her own true love.
This garden though, belongs to both of them,
with tender heart he watches from above.

The woman's grateful for so many things,
her garden and the memories she keeps.
The love they shared, still blossoms in her heart,
and in dreams, they are together while she sleeps.
