A light in the night....
The Shining
by Begin Again
The ribbon-like water slithers like a snake. The heavy branches moan beneath the howling wind.
Twigs snap. Eyes glow in the dark. An unknown creature disturbs a flock of birds; flapping wings echo as they escape. An owl hoots.
The glowing campfire embers fade. Lost, a wide-eyed child shivers in fear.
A light faintly glimmers in the distance. His heart pounds.
The glow explodes above the horizon, chasing away the night shadows.
Morning has arrived.
