So Majestic

A Stately Bird

by Boogienights

Poem: Owls Contest Winner
The moon is full this Autumn night,
the owl's eyes will catch that light.
Follow the shine and you'll catch sight,
before this predator takes flight.

It's solemn hooting fills the air,
is that a tiny creature there?
No chance to hide within its lair,
the owl swoops down without a care.

With dinner caught between its claws,
it starts to eat without a pause.
It's all a part of nature's laws,
the sight of it inspires awe.

Smart, majestic is this bird,
some people fear them I have heard.
Its told that people have been lured,
an omen of bad luck assured.

But though a part of Halloween,
in horror settings it is seen,
it's quite remarkably serene.
Fear of this bird is quite obscene.

A stately bird to be admired,
poets write of owls, inspired.
To learn of owls I never tire,
to see them soar is my desire.
