GOGYOHKA is a free-style Japanese poetic form with no strict rules on length or syllables count but as brief as possible, usually five or six lines. Use a picture and word imagery. Any subject. Lines are grammatically connected. Alliteration, personification, metaphor are okay but never rhymes. Japanese poets have written free-style tankas since the Taisho period around the 1910s.
