A warning from God
I talked to God the other day,
And this is what He had to say.
He said as far as He could see,
Things weren't as good as they should be.
He said He thought Earth was the place
Where He could start a human race,
But He is having second thoughts,
And now is checking other spots.
Now years ago, while fighting sin
In spots like this, He packed them in.
But God now plays to empty halls,
While Satan's getting curtain calls.
He'd like for us to reconcile
The problems on the Emerald Isle.
They'd be OK if they'd not mix
Religion with their politics.
The Palestinians and the Jews
Have suffered for their different views,
And each intent to maim and kill,
While both are saying, "It's God's will."
When Christians and the Muslims fight,
Both thinking that their cause is right,
The innocents cannot compete,
As they lie dying in the street.
And so I finally said to God,
"Although this Earth is greatly flawed,
If, for awhile, could you sit tight
And see if we can set things right?"
He said He didn't think we could,
But He knew some were doing good,
And so He said, "I'll make a deal.
I think I know just how you feel.
"Now this is what I'm going to do.
I'll be back in a year or two,
And if I find no changes here,
My punishment will be severe.
"Remember My high water mark
When I saved Noah in his ark?
This time there'll be no chosen few.
I'll do away with all of you.
"When Sodom and Gomorrah fell,
And all those souls went straight to Hell,
I'm telling you, for what it's worth,
I'll do the same right here on Earth.
"To kill, it hurts Me to the core,
But I've destroyed a world before,
And if you have a shred of doubt,
Just take a look one planet out."
