My Ode To...

Chocolate

Ode Poem Contest Winner 
Chocolate, I will extoll the pleasures that you hold.
Enjoyed you in my childhood and still now, when I'm old.
Whether milk, dark, plain or fancy, with almonds rice or nuts,
you give me a euphoric high, there's no ifs, ands, or buts.

Between graham crackers nestled with a marshmallow as well,
you are a sweet ambrosia that puts me in a spell.
No matter what bleak mood I'm in, you bring me such delight.
If not for all the calories, I'd eat you day and night.

We've known each other all our lives, chocolate, you're the best.
There's lots of other candies but you tower above the rest.
I love you, dear sweet chocolate, you know that this is true.
Each holiday you give me something to look forward to.

My diets always blow up because it's you I crave.
You are a hit I must admit, your taste makes you, my fave!
There are so many years ahead, together we will spend.
Dear chocolate my love affair with you will never end.
