Muffin Top

Lessons learned. Contest Winner
In a village of goats, there lived a pig,
they called her 'Muffin Top'.
'cause she was fat, they called her that
each day and wouldn't stop.

It's true, she had a muffin top,
she very clearly did.
She'd draw attention every day,
was teased by every kid.

They kept it up, gave her no peace,
to hurt her, their desire.
A muffin top is not so bad,
but still, she drew their ire.

It's true, this pig, she loved to eat,
her mom taught her to cook.
So larger grew pig's muffin top,
she hated how she looked.

This pig was very talented,
her voice like liquid gold.
Through the night you'd hear her sing,
sweet music would unfold.

And she was kind, yes, to a fault,
an angel you might say.
Helping goats who were in need,
she did it every day.

She also had a magic gift,
she could make dreams come true.
She'd do it for the goats that asked,
she'd do the same for you.

The small goat village did so well
each day because of her.
But magic she had was replaced,
by pain that she'd endure.

A sweeter pig you'd never know,
she lighted up each place.
Her muffin top was all they saw,
it caused her much disgrace.

She was so different from the rest,
the goats could not perceive
just how much they hurt 'Muffin Top',
had no clue she would leave.

Still, she decided one fine day,
that she would leave it all.
But once she left, magic in tow,
the village took a fall.

Her lovely voice no longer heard,
and no one's dreams came true.
No kindness there for goats in need,
just sadness and much rue.

The village goats soon realized,
just how much they had lost.
That it is what's inside that counts,
they paid a hefty cost.

The goats ate lots to ease their pain,
muffin tops they grew.
But they still felt the same inside,
a lesson learned, that's true.

It's not how someone looks, you see,
it's what's inside their heart.
Be kind to others, show respect,
it's not too late to start.
