Forgiveness is...

Hard To Find

I'm finding it hard to forgive
my parents for lies they told.
Now that I've finally learned the truth,
they're gone and I am old.

Their infant son was left behind
in England, after the war.
I never knew that he was there,
it's shaken me to the core.

He found me, now I know the truth.
My perception of mom and dad
has changed so much, how could they
just erase a child they had?

I'll never know the whys of it,
I wish they were still both here.
What other secrets did they have,
that would bring me close to tears?

I know to "err is human,
and forgiveness is divine".

But I'm finding it hard to forgive,
what they did was so unkind.

I love the parents that I knew,
they loved me and raised me with care.
But for secrets that they kept from me,
true forgiveness won't be there.
