A rhymed poem (contest entry)

I Knew It All

by Debra White

When I was young and knew it all
I never, ever thought I'd fall.
So sure of me, myself and I,
I knew that I was born to fly.

I'd fly as far as I could get
and soar through life without regret.
I never, ever thought I'd fall
when I was young and knew it all.
---
The years have flown, I'm older now
and me, myself and I, somehow
have made it here on weathered wings,
encountered vast and varied things

and on that often bumpy flight,
I sometimes haven't got things right.
In retrospect, I do believe -
When I was young, I was naive.
