We are just the same - looking for free lunch.

River of Life

by LisaMay

Swift
A fish leaps
Angling for free lunch
We’ve arrived at the same point
Both expect a tasty bite
I have upper hand
Pole is held
Firm

Now
Fish flicks clear
My free lunch is gone
He heads downriver quickly
It’s the one that got away
A lucky escape
So agile
Fish

Gone
Bright fins flash
Shimmering with life
Heroic, he diced with death
There will be more barbs to come
Schoolmates are laughing
It’s their turn
