Monorhyme Contest Winner

Well hello… what’s this I see?
I chew my pen reflectively.
At last, is this one meant for me?
With just one rhyme, not two or three,
how hard can this prompt be?
I’ll write something constructively.
My mind starts buzzing like a bee,
letting my thoughts go winging free.
But most seem lost at sea!

Some writers’ words flow easily,
but mine jump ’round haphazardly.
Fun poems bring smiles delightfully,
while others touch us hopefully.
Some make us think: “Rather you, than me.”
Some scare us with horror, dreadfully.
This is harder than I thought it’d be!
Though I know it won’t just be me
who is struggling to write successfully.

We each want to win — it’s vanity
to want to be best, a celebrity.
This site, like life, has no guarantee,
for judgment varies by degree.
When voting ends, some might not agree.
Our poems make up a potpourri.
And though the contest has a fee
a writer’s dreams are always free.
