Sublime Scents of Summer

The Scents of Summer Contest Winner 
The summer season will send sweet scents soon.
Flourishing flowers and freshly mowed grass,
the smell of water on pavement that's hot,
the sprinkler finally set out at last.

Scents of fresh fruit, peaches, plums, nectarines,
make my mouth water, their tastes make me thrill.
Picnics at the park, plus plenty of food,
hot dogs, and burgers sizzle on the grill.

The scents of the surf and sand while we swim,
sunscreen that's slathered all over us all.
The breeze off the lake, a strong fishy smell,
though I've never caught a fish that I recall.

Freshly turned dirt that's awaiting some seeds,
the scent of a cool fresh rain falling down.
Summer's the happiest season of all,
just can't wait for summer to come around.
