A short rhymed poem

When

by Debra White

When all the trees were apple trees
and ev'ry house was square
with roofs that were triangular,
I didn't have a care.

The sun was always shining and
the flowers stood so tall
and grass grew in a perfect line,
no weeds on show at all.

The butterflies' antennaes were
as large as lollipops
and falling from the sheep-shaped clouds
were giant pear-shaped drops.

The people all had bobbleheads
with arms and legs like sticks
and ev'rything made perfect sense
when I was only six.
