If nothing else he was...

Meticulous

Anxious he was, palms were sweaty,
the time was now, he was ready.
He tried to read, it was a ruse,
it was now time to line up shoes.

A ruler needed from the start,
six inches they would be apart.
His O.C.D. would make it so,
precisely measured, a neat row.

Running shoes with white checkmark,
a sequined pair, dress shoes quite dark.
Six inches they'd be from each other,
any further would make him shudder.

Fifteen pairs, he was feeling great,
the bodies attached to the shoes could wait.
