Phoenix
Phoenix
by Iza Deleanu
She was running like there was no tomorrow. The loneliness and despair were encircling her and kept her close to the edge of madness. One voice was screaming: "Run! Break from this prison!" The other one was whispering: "Don't! We are safe here. I know you are not happy, but we have shelter, and we know how to navigate this mess!"
Anna was trapped inside that wall. No matter where she was looking there was only darkness. The happy ending was slipping through her fingers. She looked in the mirror for the last time. Her pale reflection was a shadow of the girl she used to be. Falling on her knees she started to cry: "Why, God? I trusted your angel. I thought this was what I was born to do. How can I save the world when I can't save myself? What did I miss?"
God frowning: "Silly girl, you missed the point. You forgot... to save others, first you need to heal your broken soul. I've sent you plenty of signs, but you were blind and deaf to them. Remember I am not allowed to tell you directly, because I gave you the freedom to choose."
Anna hearing God's words in her heart." Forgive me, Father I was blind. Please allow me to take this second chance. Let me free myself from this nightmare and heal my broken wings. I want to fly again and spread your joy."
God let his light engulf her soul - new Phoenix emerging.
