Fated to meet...

Two Loving Hearts

by Boogienights

He stood there in the sunlight,
his hair the color of wheat.
This was all new, I was unsure,
but I knew we had to meet.

A rally in the city park,
a prideful celebration
for those born to a different path,
I approached with hesitation.

"My name is Brad", I shyly said.
He turned and said, "I'm Pete".
Kind eyes he had, blue like the sky,
his voice gentle and sweet.

We talked around things left unsaid,
of politics, music, weather.
No talk of why we both were there,
Just glad to be together.

I touched his hand, electric sparks
coursed through me and I knew...
That this might lead to something else,
before the day was through.

He liked Italian food like me,
we agreed to later meet.
At a little restaurant, we knew,
on the corner down the street.

We held hands there and people stared,
I guess they'd never seen...
So beautiful a man like him,
he walked out of my dream.

Me, I'm just an average guy
and I can't believe my luck,
but Cupid let his arrow fly,
and I didn't want to duck.

A year later when we were wed,
vows made our love complete.
Two souls that day fate made quite sure,
our loving hearts would meet.
