Face of Innocence

Face of Innocence
Tom Horonzy 07.12.2022

As a child's life begins -
its face beams
innocence.

Guiltless from corruption
their countenance's
immaculate.

Cherishable cherubs
unsullied by vice
innately virtuous,

until reason arrives
where lies assault truth.
Innocence is lost.

Attentive to our speech
auditorily they're taught
how to speak
onomatopoeicly.*

Ever watchful these
mini-me and mini-you's
mimic what we do.,

Thus, mind your p's and q's
or they will act out
the good and bad of you.

onomatopoeia (on-uh-mat-uh-pee-uh) imitative of words
