Tough men

His saddle, chaps and spurs,

Are on a rack in the corner.

They served him well

When a rodeo performer.

The lack of oil on his saddle

Has caused the leather to crack.

Guess he'll never use them again,

With a badly injured back.

The odds of never getting hurt

Are really pretty thin.

He kept getting on them critters.

Again and again.

Some good ol' boys follow the circuit,

And many become the best of friends.

Sooner or later they have to give it up,

That's when their trail ends.

Rodeo gets in their blood

It's nearly impossible to quit.

They'll ride anything that has wheela or hooves.

Just for the hell of it.

Some win trophies and buckles

Some get a big payday.

The life is tough and some don't make it.

Living the rodeo way.

Some walk out of the arena,

And some will never walk again.

It's not a question of if they get hurt,

It's only a matter of when.

There will always be cowboys

In the future, just like the past.

Around the campfires or bellied up to a bar,

The legend of the cowboy will last.
