Okey-Doke

by nomi338

I listened to the candidate's voice
He advised me to, "Make a wise choice."
His lies were so clear, it seemed a joke
He invited me to go for the okey-doke.

Some speak in ways, that makes them sound young
The way some speak, is with a forked tongue
If you got fooled by the way they spoke
You just might have fallen for the okey-doke

Leave a hard-working man penniless
An average man should not expect any less
A trusting man could end up broke
If he should ever fall for the okey-doke

"okey-doke," meaning some sort of trick, game, scam, attempt to fool, shortchange, deceive, or mislead, also came into use in the 1930s, principally among African Americans.
