Sleepy Sloths

Awesome Alliteration Contest Contest Winner 
It's no secret sleepy sloths are slow
their sense of sight and smell low.

Moving at less speed
works as a survival strategy
and helps sluggish sloths to stay unseen
 between the many shades of green.

Small sized, solitary and shy,
female sloths searching for a mate
make shrieking, screeching screams
to find a date and consumate.

Not keen to preen nor clean,
their fuzzy fur, covered in algae,
has no sheen.

Sloths diet of buds and leaves is lean;
so only once a week do they feel the need
to creep down their tree trunk to pee and poo.

Sadly,below they are more in view
and many die at the jarring,
jagged jaws of a jaguar
or at the clenched claws of an eagle,
their two most feared foes.
