We're never ready
Unexpected Visitor

- Who are you? Don't shake me like that! I was about to die of fright.
- Follow me.
- But I was sleeping. Why don't you come back later. It's just five thirty.
- Don't be lazy. It's time to go. I'm not the one who decides. I just follow orders.
- Will you at least let me get changed? I need a coat. It's cold outside. Look at all that snow.
- Can you stop making excuses? You don't need a coat.
- Gloves? They have to be here somewhere. Let me look for them.
- You're all the same. I don't understand your reticence. You knew I was coming.
- Yes, I knew. I didn't expect you today though.
- Well, you also knew that I don't usually call to announce my visits. You must always be ready.
- You're not as scary-looking as I had imagined. But I'd always been told you were a man.
- That's because you live in a chauvinistic world.
- You're very pale.
- There isn't a lot of sunshine where I live.
- I like your hair. I wish mine was that long.
- I'm afraid you won't have time to grow it now.
- Why don't you grant me a few more years? I'd like to meet my grandchildren.
- Thou art a procrastinator, my Lady.
- Are you mocking me?
- Not really. Just making conversation. I'm already used to this. All humans are the same. Let's go.
- Can I at least say goodbye to my husband?
- Just kiss him on the cheek, but be careful not to wake him up.
- I'm not ready for this.
- Nobody is ever ready.
- I'm only forty-eight.
- The one before you was twelve.
- How can you be so cruel? Have you got no feelings?
- No. If I did, I wouldn't be a good candidate for this job.
- Could you just leave this once?
- No. I'm not going to repeat it again. Let's go.
- Okay, okay, I'm coming. There's no need to pull my hair. Do you at least know where you are taking me?
- Yes, but I don't want to tell you. Saint Peter will inform you in a couple of minutes. As soon as we reach the Pearly Gates.
