Life after Birth; Death after Life
Living Forevermore
by Tom Horonzy
I have been taught the purpose of life is to receive a physical body.
With it we set the foundations for eternal relationships.
By it we receive experiences we could not receive in other ways.
This mortal life is a test of faith, which requires mankind
to be here blind without a memory of their previous state.
I know not who authored those words
and who am I to question them, for
I believe them to be as real as I am today.
Where did I come from; Where will I go?
Somewhere above or somewhere below.
Choosing the Right or Reaping the Consequence
has been and always shall be my choice.
Commandments were never meant to be restrictive
but safeguards keeping me from a path of destruction
where I could descend and not ascend
somewhere above but instead elsewhere.
Of 'The Commandments' which does me harm?
Honoring parents? Staying faithful to a wife?
Doing neither could cause me strife,
as would stealing that which isn't mine,
or feeling jealous of what others find.
Choosing the right seems a better alternative.
If I shall have life after I die,
while having lived before my death,
the only question yet to have answered
is where was my soul before its birth
to a ragged old form, it claimed as home?
I feel confident I'll find the answer,
if and when I end up above.

This may be a conundrum for almost everyone; or it may be a prompt to consider if ... there is life after death was there life before birth?
