Compassion for the Aging

As the elderly go through life's changes
I feel sad, they are lost in how to cope
I have observed a lack of compassion
More understanding is needed to help

Maybe just to take time, sit and listen
With some suggestions, as we give them hope
For the lifestyle changes they must now make
Gentleness works for our aging adults

As I work with the elderly each day
And try to be emotionally present
Feelings bringing me to have compassion
With understanding, kindness and patience
