Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
The Why of Why I Write

I Write

I write
  So I can feel 

I write 
  So I can run 

I write 
  To understand the world

I write
  To understand my soul 


Long ago I separated
  From my thoughts 
   
I tried to protect 
  and pretend 

let no one in

Some thoughts were too painful
  Some were childish
    Some were seeking 
       Some were comforting 
         Some traumatic
           Some overly dramatic
 
Most 
    lived in silence 
      Before I wrote them
 
 For my own ears to hear 

Thoughts that echoed 
   in my head 
     on pen and paper 
       grew

Exposing who I really am 
   and what I can become 

I had to relive history 
  and face the one I was
  

The pen has life 
  and I have memories 
    Far too sad for life itself 

For Forgiveness 
  comes not easy   
    to the lost and lonely child 

Reaching for a ray of sunshine
     Running toward her hidden smile
