Having Doubts...
When devastation hit me
and my father to me was lost,
I blamed God for unanswered prayers
and now this was the cost.
A life without my father,
impossible it seemed.
I begged,
He didn't listen
"I hate you God!"
I screamed.
But this was from a sad young girl,
who had only just turned fifteen.
...
Many years have passed
and now I clearly see,
that I've been blessed so many times,
miracles have come to me.
My husband and my children
have made my life complete.
God surely had a hand in this,
making my life so sweet.
God was there in times of trouble,
I felt his presence near.
He gave me strength to follow through
and took away my fear.
The two times death had shadowed me,
had beckoned me through it's door.
God was there to shelter me,
my life he did restore.
...
Yet I still have questions,
doubts fill up my mind.
Why do so many suffer?
How can life be so unkind?
Why do the starving hunger,
and so many die in war?
Must so many die in vain?
Just what is it all for?
Why can't God's might
just stop the wars?
Why can't God,
the hungry feed?
There's no question that it could be done.
Why doesn't God intercede?
...
So now I am of two opposing minds,
I'm grateful and so glad.
I thank God for all my blessings
and the good things that I have.
Then there is my other mind,
that really wants to know,
If God could create a peaceful world,
Then why isn't it so?
Why can't Evil be ejected
and in place of it a light?
Who welcomes those who have lost their way
and take them from the night.
My questions go unanswered,
why things go the way they go.
But like that sad fifteen year old,
I still just want to know.
