I’ve never scaled a mountain high,
or shot a pheasant in the sky.
I’ve never raced a distance strong,
but I have felt the robin’s song.

I’ve never sought to dine with kings,
or be adorned with jewels or rings.
I’ve never danced the whole night long,
but I have felt the robin’s song.

I’ve never dreamed to know all men,
or glory seek beyond my ken.
I’ve never yearned to chase the throng,
but I have felt the robin’s song.

I’ve never hoped my days would end,
or wished to lose you as a friend.
At times, I yearned to just belong...
but I have felt the robin’s song.

Writing Prompt
A kyrielle is made of quatrains (four lines) that rhyme (any rhyme scheme can be used). Each stanza (quatrain) has a line that repeats from the previous stanza. That line is usually the last line in the stanza, but it does not have to be. Each line is made up of eight syllables. There is no limit to the number of stanzas. A Kyrielle is usually made up of three or more stanzas. For this prompt, a minimum of three stanzas is required.
