True Love
by country ranch writer
I remember our first date as if it was yesterday. I was 20 and working on my rodeo career and the last thing I needed was a boyfriend. But there he was sitting up on his horse as plain as day mind you looking so sexy. I was struck right away by his good looks he looked to be in his twenties. He had dark brown hair, brown eyebrows, and smoldering smokie blue eyes. He looked tall in the saddle on the horse he was riding, he had broad shoulders and was very muscular. I was mesmerized by his voice it had a southern drawl to it and he had a smile that would melt any girls heart.
For some reason, I felt happy and content for the first time in my life. I had fallen in love at first sight. Was it possible? It was the most amazing feeling and I had never felt that way before about anyone. I wondered if he was as taken with me as I was with him. I couldn't wait to find out more about him.
I knew right away I wanted to spend the rest of my life with JM. I was attracted to him right off and when he asked me out I was elated. I was so nervous and jittery waiting for him to come to pick me up later that day for our date.l
We had lunch at a nice country in and it was love at first sight. I could hardly believe he felt the same about me. Sitting there with him I realized I have never met someone so charming, so honest and amazing. This is crazy I thought to myself as I had never felt like this before. We talked easily all through lunch. It was like we had known each other all our lives. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!
It turned out to be such a beautiful day and the evening was just as fantastic. We talked and talked for hours on end. His hopes and dreams were just like mine. We were both working on the same goals and careers in the rodeo. We both had a bright future going for us. It was like we were drawn like a magnet to each other. We were inseparable after the first date we had a whirlwind romance. We had met in August and were married in October. Some friends thought it wouldn't work but we both knew it was as soon as we went on our first date.
Some people were skeptics about the speed our romance happened. They questioned whether people could really fall in love at first sight. They didn't think it was going to last because it was too soon. We hadn't known each other that long.
We are still very romantic even after all these years of marriage of Fifty-three years. I am still besotted with him as I was back then.
We still love watching the sunsets and holding hands. Love, at first sight, has been a blessing to both of us. We have never lost sight of the fact not everyone can be as happy as we were at such a young age.
We both enjoyed our time riding together on the rodeo circuit every day was a new adventure. JM loved me for me, he never tried to change me. With him, every day was a roller coaster ride. I think we were amazed and rather overwhelmed by the path our lives were heading.
I think we were always meant to be together. I looked over ar JM and I know with every fiber of being in my body says yes it was the right choice. People can think love, at first sight, is nonsense but it is not! It has lasted through thick and thin. Sure we had ups and downs like all folks do but nothing serious to be worried about. Time takes care of things when you love each other. You always work things out in one way or another.
We will always have our pictures and memories now in our old age to fall back on and reminisce about the years gone by.
