Contest entry without the letter A

Simple Simon Revised

by June Sargent

Simple Simon met the peddler
feeding his pet crow.
Simple Simon begged the peddler
for some deep fried dough.

"Hold your horses, " yelled the peddler,
"Let me see your coin!"
"It's not possible," sir peddler,
"Left it in Des Moines."

"No dough for you, " replied the peddler,
"unless I get some fish."
Poor Simon, frowning, left the peddler
with his empty dish.

He spied the brook behind the peddler.
Would not hurt to look.
He'd give the fish to Mr. Peddler.
But, first he needs his hook.

Then Jim the brewer next to peddler
offered Simon beer.
"Ignore the silly, grumpy peddler.
Drink! Enjoy some cheer!"

Poor Simon spilled the beer on peddler,
wetting dough with fish,
but this did not upset the peddler.
Beer on fish's delish!
