Where There's Love

by Willie P. Smith

I had a strange experience last night,
As I lay sleeping in my bed.
My spirit left my body
And was floating overhead.
I knew I was still alive,
There was a smile upon my face.
Instead of the fear I felt at first,
Restfulness had taken its place.
My wife was laying close by my side,
Unaware of my presence above.
Her head was on my shoulder
And her face was filled with love.

I watched for awhile, from my ceiling view,
I guess I was caught by the sight.
Then, my spirit floated back to my body
and continued to sleep for the night.
Sometime later, I opened my eyes
it wasn't as strange as it might seem.
My wife's head was still on my shoulder,
So I knew it wasn't all just a dream.
I can't explain my strange experience,
I won't even give it a try.
But where there's love it isn't impossible
for a living spirit to fly.
