Western poem Contest Winner

Silver kept the Lone Ranger,
Hi-Ho away from danger.
Little was left to doubt,
When Tonto followed on Scout,

Outlaws could figure,
Roy’d be after’em on Trigger,
Dale Evans was smooth as silk,
When singing atop Buttermilk,

Zorro never rode to Laredo,
On his black horse Tornado.
There was no baloney,
When Tom Mix rode Tony

Gene Autrey could rope a scamp,
From atop his horse Champ,
There was a lot of woe,
When they shot Rooster Cogburn’s Bo,

Not much was unsaid,
By the Famous Mr. Ed
It would be uncool,
To leave out Francis the Talking Mule.

The last two as westerns may be a reach,
But Chill Wills did their speech,
I’m done now no sweat,
I’ll be riding into the sunset.

Some may question using Mr. Ed and Francis the Talking Mule in a western poem.
* Mr. Ed was from California, the only thing further west is Hawaii.
*A mule is the offspring of a male donkey (jack) and a female horse (mare).
* Chill Wills was the voice of Francis, Rocky Lane was Mr. Ed, two great western actors.
As always, I know my meters are off and some of my rhymes are forced. I'm not a poet by any stretch of the imagination, I just enjoy making rhymes.
Enjoy!! After all, a horse is a horse of course.
