What if he is a cowboy?

Is God a cowboy?

by Willie P. Smith

Do you think God is a cowboy
Does he ride the heavens all day
Does he have a favorite horse
Does he buy his own hay?

What kind of horse does he ride
You think he keeps it shod
Is his western belt buckle homemade
Is it stamped on the back "God"?

Does he wear chaps and spurs
With a big western belt buckle
Would the antics of a rodeo clown
Give him cause to chuckle?

Does he saddle his own horse
Or does he assign that task
Could he stay eight seconds on a bronc
Do you have the grits to ask?

Does he prefer wranglers
Or the tight fit of Levi jeans
Does he produce western movies
And direct the good guy scenes?

Does he sit around a campfire
And discuss the miracles he's done
Did he teach Will Rogers how to throw a rope
And the Duke how to twirl a gun?

Is his foreman St. Peter
Is heaven the name of his ranch
Do you think God is a cowboy
Do you think there might be a chance?
