Families, grown apart from the start

Broken branches

by JLR

Oh, brother, what road ... paved, hobbled with ruts, or just a sparse trail
led you onto your broken branch?
Suspended in mystery, hidden from many, no communication at all.
Causing one to wonder, did a sudden, in the distance snap move you on.
C
Riding broken branches in the sky.

Hey Sisters! to you a similar wonder ... what or why
did you pick your chosen paths,
It has been one score and ten the last time
we shared that same gentle breeze. What caused that sudden, in the distance, snap
and then you taking wing like two large birds to your journey's end?
C
Riding broken branches in the sky.

Still, here I sit, leaves rustling, squirrels tussling, birds preening,
when...sudden..clearly defined as tho' written in the sands of time,
I see it is my broken branch upon which was my journey.
C
Riding my broken branches in the sky.

Then, a snap, in the distance  likened to a dozen fingers popping in unison
The enclave from which I was escaping, creating my paved, sometimes hobbled,
often rutted. pathway of life.

My sincere thanks to El Munro for the brilliant photo Ancient Oak. Sometimes, families just grow apart, each and everyone seemingly taking different pathways...or perhaps it was just one in the family that was a broken branch?
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
