Pyrite has crushed so many dreams, so similar to gold it seems,
foolishly prospectors believed, only to find they were deceived.

Still beautiful though, its glow delights, placed on a chain it shines so bright,
though riches great you will not score, you'll have a trinket to adore.

A chunk of iron swelled from the earth, like everything else it has its worth,
for otherwise, why would it surface? it definitely has a purpose.

What that can be, I just don't know, perhaps it's only there to show,
those whose dreams are big and bold, what it might feel like finding gold.
