Weather via Diminished Hexaverse writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt Diminished Hexaverse is a type of poem that relates stanza lines to syllable count in decreasing volume. It typically* starts with a 5 lines of 5 syllables per line; then 4 lines of 4 syllables per line; then 3 lines of 3 syllables per line; then 2 lines of 2 syllables per line; finally wrapping up with 1 syllable, 1 line stanza. This final line may or may not be the title of the poem. No rhyme scheme is required. [*I say 'typically' here because the form can begin with a higher count in the first stanza 'diminishing' to the single-word final line.] For this contest, you are to write a five stanza Diminished Hexaverse [example given below]. The theme of your poem should be the weather... And, yes, that's quite a broad nature topic! ;) It could be about storms or heat or rain or... the sky's the limit (lol!). However, this is a NATURE poem -- no emotional storms or lover's heat or Purple Rain or... well, you get the point. :) ;) :) Be creative and inventive and impress us, please!! Make us sigh, make us wow, make us laugh, but make us want to vote for yours! ;) Let the Diminishing begin! NIGHT By Jan Allison Magical moonbeams Sparkling like silver On an inky sea I watch them dancing Captivatingly Bright mystic moon Shining each night Waxes and wanes Controlling tides Silver orb Shines above constantly I love A clear Night |
