Those Were The Days

by LisaMay

As nymphs are rising,
old fishermen reminisce —
ones that got away.

Author's Note:
In fly-fishing, a nymph is the larva, or young form, of an insect such as a mayfly or dragonfly.
Imitation flies are used to catch such freshwater fish as trout.
In all good fishing stories, "the one that got away" is always the best one, much like as in love.

The illustration is from an 1896 oil painting by John William Waterhouse, titled "Hylas and the Nymphs".
