Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
a free verse of endurance

Care and Prayer

The plow share spades through the furrow,
as a man tills the earth that he owns;
with care and prayer his sowings will grow,
and harvest provide for the winter.

The rains come hard, the world slides away,
but the man and his mate dig again;
with care and prayer their future will grow,
the fruit of labor will save them.

The winter is deep, the land sleeps,
and the mate of the man never wakens;
her care and her prayers live on,
so the strength of her soul sustains him.

A spring of revival breaks through the sod,
as the man welcomes burgeoning life;
through care and her prayers he survives,
his endurance is fed from her mem'ry.
