Joy of Early Spring

by RodG

Emotions Contest Winner
They burst abreast in fields one April day,
assembled randomly in many rows.
Blue asters, daisies mingled in array
with hand-sown poppies which a farm wife chose.
At base of sloping hill, a slow stream flows,

meandering around the soundless rocks.
While easing by these blooms, it seldom talks.

Not far away a barn sits wearily
with open doors, corral and rooftop green
and there a valley lying silently,

all rolling farmland restful and serene.
God's presence--felt wherever beauty's seen--
astounds all visitors who wander here,
uplifts their spirits; smiles soon reappear.
