Promise Kept

Wedding Night

by Boogienights

Your lacy hem picks up the dust,

as we stroll along hand in hand.
Your wedding dress, my fancy suit,
we're both dressed up to beat the band.

The wedding gift we promised each,
walk the trail where we first met.
Alone at last as man and wife,
with hopes and dreams and no regret.

Clouds cover up a crescent moon,
as sweetly, cool rain gently falls.
We laugh to hear the bullfrogs croak,
softly bellow their throaty calls.

Tall trees like giant sentinels,
watch us close as we dance along.
The night birds up in branches sing
a most beautiful wedding song.

We found love on a night like this,
it took only moments to see,
what the tall trees, birds, frogs and pond,
knew already, we're meant to be.

Lying in the whispering grass,
our passions high, close bodies roast.
Cool rain, hot skin, steam rises up,
the quiet meadow is our host.

Knowing we will always be true,
and there's nothing we can't weather.
We'll come back often, me and you,
and walk our trail together.
