Tree Farm, My Favorite Ladies by Reese Turner
A favorite Christmas place writing prompt entry

"When Christmas Tree chopping in Texas
We usually must bring our own snow,
And we are not too bundled up -
‘Cause winter ain’t come yet, y’all know."

"We always think of family and friends
Who mean so much to us all;
So we pictured us, with this year's tree,
To say, Merry Christmas to all y’all!"

Above was in ‘85 at the tree farm near
Navasota, Texas, with our first two.
Our tradition of chopping our tree there
Began and continued each year on thru.

Finding the perfect tree wasn't easy
When there were four choosing “the” tree.
Always included hot cocoa and snacks!
Carried on with daughter number three.

Now, our girls are all married, long gone
But, with their families, no tree chopping!
Most trees now come in boxes from China
Chosen through Amazon shopping.

Writing Prompt
Write a rhyming poem about a special place you liked to visit at Christmas. I know most everything is shut down now, but reminisce about a special store, a visit to see Santa, a celebration with friends or a neighborhood tour of Christmas lights. Anything that brings good memories.

Author Notes
So, did you look close to see my wife pouring the Ivory Snow? "Bring our own snow" - get it? Such great years with our girls doing this. They even came home from college to do it together. Now, no more. What "Ho-Ho-Ho" is buying a fake Chinese tree on-line? Let me hear, "Bah-Humbug"!
