As they bend before false gods, testing which way the wind is blowing, spineless leaves of grass are swayed.   Recognized Author Notes Author Note: It may be more usual to refer to 'blades of grass', but I've put 'leaves of grass' there on purpose to reference the title of Walt Whitman's poetry collection, which was about his philosophy of life and humanity.
