As Winter wanes and Summer waits,
'til Spring has had it's turn.
I dream of warm inviting sand,
it's for this my heart yearns.
I've never seen the ocean blue,
or dolphins rise and dip,
or picked up seashells from the shore,
or baked clams in a pit.
A sandcastle, I've never built,
beneath a sky so blue.
With many peaks, the flag on top
display's it's emblem true.
I'd love to watch the seagulls fly,
and swoop to steal a fish.
To join them in their endless flight,
would be my greatest wish.
I'd try a rowboat out for size,
and go and catch a fish.
The food that's swimming down below,
will make a tasty dish.
Under the sun, I'd lie and dream,
make stories up to tell.
And gaze upon the setting sun,
then under moonbeams dwell.
Yet, still outside the skies are gray,
and Winter isn't done.
So I'll just dream until the time,
I'll have some Summer fun.
